The question of “what is appropriate to wear to an interview” is one asked by every type of job seeker (young and old) and it’s important to pay attention to detail. Whether you’re interviewing at a CPA firm or an ad agency that wears jeans every day, it’s important to overdress for your main entrance.
Let’s start at the top, shall we?
Hair
Women – If your hair is down, make sure it’s brushed, styled and obvious that you showered. If the hair is up, avoid the “messy look” and make the hairspray your friend; take that extra 5 to impress your interviewer.
Men – Make sure you have a fresh haircut or be sure those longer locks are styled to perfection.
Clothing
Ladies & Gentlemen – All clothing should be fitted, ironed, tucked in (if the style calls for it) and of proper length. Ladies, nothing too low-cut either; let’s keep it professional!
I’m not saying you have to throw on a suit, but make sure what you are wearing looks its best. Taking time on...

These may seem like simple and obvious suggestions, but sometimes going back to basics can help remind us what our original goal was…to get a job!
-Always bring multiple copies of your resume to an interview. Not only will the person conducting your interview need one, but if you meet with more than one person in the company, it’s good for them to have their own personal copy as well. Remember, the goal of an interview is to be remembered and to stick out!
-A cover letter isn’t always necessary for a job application, but having one in your back pocket is a good call. Applying to jobs (especially online) is time consuming and you don’t want to push the “pause button” due to not having a cover letter ready and waiting!
-References: Have them, let the person know you’re listing them and make sure their contact information is up-to-date. That is all.
-Thank you cards: this gesture is still powerful. Handwritten cards are good, but leaving the interview and putting them in the mail...

Interview Tips - Asking Questions
Be prepared to ask questions of the hiring manager during the interview that are based on your research of the company and industry. Insightful and pertinent questions will demonstrate that you've done your homework and that you're serious about the position. And your questions will help both of you determine if you are the right match for the job. A good idea is to review the website prior to your interview.
Know what questions NOT to ask. Don't inquire about salary, vacation time, PTO, benefits, working remotely, or your office space at the first interview. These questions are appropriate only after the hiring manager has expressed serious interest in offering you the position.
Here are some questions you might ask:
· What would I be expected to accomplish in this role?
· What is the current status of the project/assignment?
· What are the greatest challenges in this position?
· How do you think...

Well, recruiters, we have made it to another Friday and hopefully for some of you, another pay day. No doubt your week was full of phone calls, voicemails, making more phone calls, returning emails, interviewing and more phone calls! The life of a recruiter is not an easy one and cannot be understood by anyone else, other than another recruiter. Whenever I have bad day and try to describe to someone why recruiting is tough…I try to explain and people just don't get it! Here are my thoughts/explanations in writing.
Our product is a human being. We cannot make the deal, pack it and ship it…it has to be the perfect fit for both sides of the contract. Everything can be signed, sealed and delivered, but our candidate can turn around and say “Actually, I am going to stay where I am” or “I would prefer more money, if not I cannot take the position.” It happens more than we would like!
The hours upon hours that go into finding just one candidate is insane…literally. You will probably work more hours...

If you’re interviewing for the first time out of college or deep into your career, being prepared for an interview is key to landing your dream job!
Here are some questions that might help get the “juices flowing” before walking into an interview:
1. Can you tell me about a situation that really tested your patience?
2. When was the last time that you tried a new idea to improve your work performance?
3. When you have worked on a team, and your role was crucial, what was that role? In what way was this team effort different or similar to working on your own?
4. Can you tell me about a time when you did something extra, which was not part of your routine activities assigned to you?
5. Explain a recent mistake. What did you learn from it and in what areas can you utilize that knowledge in the future?
What other questions have you come across in past interviews?? ...
